Remember where you came from…

Inside all of us is a child looking out at the world in wonder. For some that wonder takes the form of hazy, lazy summers, for others it’s a roller coaster and the smell of popcorn. For Jessie, it’s Saturday mornings, sitting cross-legged on the bed as her mother sewed. Baby Jess loved flipping through her mother’s art history books and recreating the dresses she saw in the portraits out of the scraps from the sewing projects.

…and now.

Jessie is a university professor teaching sustainable systems in fashion, design, and knitwear. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design and Sustainability, and a Masters of Fine Arts in Fashion Design and Society, both from Parsons in New York City. Her current research focuses on historical dress, historicism in modern fashion, and how historicism and period practice informs the emotional and physical durability of the clothes we all love.
